CKLA Kindergarten Knowledge Unit 1 Nursery Rhymes and Fables Exit Passes
This resource provides an exit pass for each nursery rhyme or fable in Unit 1 of Kindergarten CKLA. There are full page or 1/2 page passes along with a book cover if you choose to bind them into a book. These can be glued into a notebook, put into a 3 prong folder or made into a book. Poetic Device Scavenger Hunt
Distribute some poems and have students identify and highlight poetic devices like similes, metaphors, alliteration, onomatopoeia, and imagery. Discuss what these are and the overall impact on the reader's experience.
Poetry Analysis Jigsaw
Divide students into small groups, assigning each group a different poem. Have each group analyze the assigned poem's themes, tone, and literary devices, and present their findings to the class.
Poetry Slam or Performance
