I use these letters as a way for my students to show the form of a piece of music in class by raising the letter they are hearing. Print on 8 1/2 X 11 inch different colored cardstock (found at most craft stores in the scrapbooking section) for easy identification of knowledge of form.

This download comes with two rows of 4 beat blanks. Great for rhythmic dictation or for simply drawing horizontal lines on each beat to represent "long" and "short" sounds. Cut in half (to save paper!) if the students are writing only one 4 beat phrase. Use the page as is for students to write two 4 beat phrases, one above the other. Or cut in half and tape the strips side-by-side to allow students to write two 4 beat phrases, add in bar-lines, time signatures, and other musical markings.
