Use this graphic organizer to dive into the whole meaning of a vocabulary word. Students are required to show prior knowledge, must use a dictionary to discover meaning and part of speech, are challenged to write synonyms and antonyms, and provide a strong sentence demonstrating the meaning of the word. This is an excellent resource to develop and better understand new vocabulary words as required by Common Core. One page is an example and the other a blank for student use.

A student template for researching / studying new reading vocabulary words in context. I've been using this form for a number of years in my SDC classroom for deaf and hard of hearing children; it's flexible and challenging and really encourages students to think more deeply about the word, especially when there are multiple meanings / dictionary entries for the word they are working on! Great for small groups or individual study.
