We all know RACE, but what about the ending of a paragraph or essay? That's why I use RACES: restate the question, answer the question, cite evidence, explain (elaborate), sum it all up! I teach my high school students this early in the school year as just RACES. As the year moves on we continue to 'extend' the format. This will look like RACE +CE + S.
