Useful for homework or cover - or to structure a close-reading activity, this is a lengthy (though easily editable) recount from a Canadian Sergeant of an air raid and subsequent fires in May 1941. There are four sets of questions - on vocabulary, information retrieval, inference and the writer’s methods. The questions are intended to increase in challenge - information retrieval being easier than explanation of the writer’s methods - so differentiation should be straightforward.

I use this lesson as a filler on the day our older students dress up. I took a well written and public Halloween article, and copied it with blanks.
