Read Around the Room Editable Flexible Seating Display
Do you let students "Read Around the Room" during daily independent reading time? This editable bulletin board display idea was passed on to me from a colleague and it's a lifesaver during Reading Workshop so I want to share it with you too!Simply print, laminate, cut and display the bulletin board set. Write student names on large popsicle sticks and pull sticks each day to select a handful of students who get to "Read Around the Room." The student name sticks fit nicely in each pocket card.

This editable resource aligns with Donalyn Miller's 40 Book Challenge - where students are challenged to read 40 books during a single school year. Depending on your curriculum, you may want more specific genre choices, or even more independent choices! "The Choice" by Dorothy Parker Comprehension Check Quiz
Dorothy Parker's poem, "The Choice", is often partnered with readings like "The Road Not Taken" and "The Lady or the Tiger."
This is a short comprehension check quiz with 10 total questions. Split on page, 2 quizzes print on each paper (saving paper for teachers with limited resources!). Students can write their answers on a separate paper, or write answers on the back.
