Self-Monitoring Questions for Readers
As our early readers begin to gain independence, we should be encouraging them to use all three cueing systems when decoding and comprehending text: the Visual Cueing System (Does it look right?), the Syntactic Cueing System (Does it sound right?) and the Semantic Cueing System (Does it make sense?).
