What is that smell? Testing students' sense of smell

Use this science activity for students to discover their sense of smell! Place a cotton ball into five different small tupperware containers. Choose four different strong smelling liquids, such as vinegar, lemon juice, vanilla, peppermint, etc, and pour a little bit onto each cotton ball. Number the containers and have students guess the smell using this worksheet. A great way to make their sense of smell come alive!

I am teaching a split grade this year and most of the Grade 5 students were able to do this activity independently while I worked with my Grade 6 students.
