Water Filter Experiment- packet
This experiment is great for understanding water filtration. We use 2 liter bottles with the bottom cut off. Students preplan in their groups what materials to use and how to place them in the upsidedown 2 liter. Once the prepare their "filtration system", I pour dirty water in and we collect it (glass baby food jars work great because you can see inside) out of the small opening at the bottom. Quiet Please! A Noise Pollution Activity
Students conduct an activity to determine the most effective way to control noise using shoe boxes and sound-absorbing materials. In groups, students will use one of 8 materials assigned by the teacher to sound-proof the inside of a shoebox. They will place a timer inside the box and test how far away the ringing can be heard, record the results, and then graph the data gathered.
