Water Filter Experiment- packet
This experiment is great for understanding water filtration. We use 2 liter bottles with the bottom cut off. Students preplan in their groups what materials to use and how to place them in the upsidedown 2 liter. Once the prepare their "filtration system", I pour dirty water in and we collect it (glass baby food jars work great because you can see inside) out of the small opening at the bottom. Students then evaluate what they could improve, empty the 2 liter and try again. We compare all of the

This is a worksheet that works well with weather.com because it is similar to the format on that website. It has sections for weather "right now", "today" and "tonight" along with "tomorrow's weather" and a section that asks what you should wear tomorrow. This is great for elementary as well as middle and high school special education. I use it for my students with moderate/severe autism. The visuals are great!

This unit was created using the Georgia Standards. There are also many reading comprehension sheets that can be assessed as a reading and social studies grade. The Unit includes a study guide that I printed out and put into folders to use as a resource throughout the study. This is also used for the research conducted during the unit study. Pumpkin Glyph Detective
Students make their glyph based on their own personal experiences. Students write their names VERY small in the middle of their pumpkin and paste the small version of directions on top of their name. Next pass out the pumpkins randomly to the students. Using the "Detective" sheet (that you have pre-typed their names on) students must use the process of elimination to figure out whose pumpkin they have. Great logical thinking activity with a fun craft!
