Superbowl 58 -- XLVIII February 11, 2024 Extra Credit Writing Options
I have created two analysis writing prompts that I offer as Extra Credit to my students based on the Superbowl. One is in regards to a commercial of their choice and the other is based on the half-time show.

Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Will You Wear? - Winter/ arctic theme booklet
A simple repetitive booklet inspired by Eric Carle’s Brown Bear, Brown Bear Books, perfect for "arctic/winter” theme!
All you need is a color printer and a stapler, or for the keen a laminator and coil rings to make it last for multiple little hands to enjoy!

Snow Man Hokey Pokey!
This product is good for teaching positon words to your students in a fun and interactive way! I allow for each of my students to decorate their own snowman. When they are done decorating I collect them.
When it's time to sing and dance I then pass their snowman out and ask for them to sing along and follow the instructions of the song!

May There Always Be Sunshine - Music Composition/ Art/ Literacy Lesson
This Kindergarten lesson uses the Russian Folk song "May There Always Be Sunshine" to give students the opportunity to create a book (and compose a song) through writing & illustrating verses of the song that they create. Students will get to compose, illustrate, write, and create in this cross-curricular lesson plan! Includes the book coversheet & blank "May There Always Be.." sheets that they will use to create their own verses.
Frozen Adapted Interactive Snowman Story
This 10-page story uses the lyrics from a song in the movie Frozen - "Do You Want To Build a Snowman" - and contains 12 BoardMaker pictures throughout that pair with words in the song. The 11th page of this product contains just the 12 pictures (9 different ones) that match up with the pictures in the story. Words from the song that match the picture are bolded.
This story can be sung or spoken. I would recommend laminating the story and then using velcro to have the students place the pictu

Snowflake Songs - a rhythm and melody activity
This activity is designed for kinder or first grade music students.
Included are four separate worksheets. Students match ta (quarter note) and titi (eighth note pair) tto the text below four snowflake steady beat pictures. The snowflake steady beats are then cut out and glued on-to blue construction paper with two lines drawn (top is the pitch "sol" and bottom is the pitch "mi").

In a Pickle Lyrics and Chords
This song, entitled "In a Pickle," explores the silly possibilities that would ensue if we took idioms such as "I'm in a pickle" literally. The song is also designed to help elementary students memorize prepositions. Also available for download: an audio recording of the song, and a series of whimsical cartoons that can be printed on cardstock and bound into a fun book to accompany the song. The cartoons utilize the Montessori grammar symbol (green bridge) for the preposition.

The Journey Lyrics and Chords
These lyrics are for my song "The Journey," which is a song about homographs. An example of one of the lines is: "And though each minute may seem endless, they'll feel minute when you are through the stress." This song is a great follow-up to the Montessori Homograph Key Experience, but the song and the cartoons work nicely with any elementary language arts/word study curriculum. The cartoons can be printed on cardstock and made into a cute little book to go along with the song. A free MP3

This is a sweet lullaby that is intended to help enforce the concept of homonyms (Montessori teachers--excellent follow-up to the Homonym Key Experience!). There is a set of whimsical cartoons also for sale on TpT, which can be printed on cardstock and made into a fun little book to accompany the song and create a nice visual representation of the pairs of homonyms in the song.
