Planning a Valentine Party: Project Based Learning

Engage your students in relevant math with a Valentine theme. Students use price sheets and quantities to plan for and budget for a Valentine Party. They also use measurement conversion skills to plan for decorations for the party. Time is also integrated into this project as students plan for party activities. This project can be done as an independent activity, or even as sub-plans if you find yourself in a pinch. If you like this activity, check out my other Project Based Learning produc

Students will use food to get a hands-on experience with estimating and measuring. Students will first take a chip (or pretzel) and estimate the length. When recorded, they will then use their ruler to measure the chip. After everything is written, students will take a (small!) bite of the chip, and repeat the process.
