Why mini-lessons on safety?-In my 10 years as a medical SLP working in the various sites such as the SNF, LTC, and Memory Units in AL/IL facilities, mini-lessons were the most effective tool I utilized with my patients with mild cognitive deficits and early stages of Dementia who had limited safety awareness. -However, I could never find lessons that were critical and pertinent to my patients immediate needs. This Letter of Apology is a great way to get students thinking about their actions and how they impact others. It can be hard to form an apology, so this resource provides little minds with a structure for restoration. This resource also pushes students to think empathetically, thinking through how their actions caused harm to another. I usually have my students write first, then read it to their audience, then snap a picture and send it home.
