Tomorrow When the War Began by John Marsden with a fun Jeopardy-style game, a perfect way to review the novel. I typically put the class into small groups and ask a member of the group to choose a color and number. That is the question that they have to answer. If correct they get one point. Then I move to the next group. This "student-friendly" checklist is closely aligned with Lucy Calkins writing workshop narrative units. It incorporates many of the mini-lessons taught in a narrative unit for 1st-3rd grade. This was a great tool to use during peer-editing as well. Students were able to give each other very specific and helpful feedback!
