Foley Art- a lab for Sound Waves!
This is a hands-on, very engaging lab that allows students to become experts on sound effects! This lesson took me about 2-3 class periods, but you can easily adjust the length depending on your needs.I begin by showing students YouTube videos of what a Foley artist does and how they work with sound. The Scientific Method - A Picture is Worth 1000 Words Experiment
The purpose of this activity is to allow students to think critically to answer a seemingly simple question. In this case, it’s answer an old idiom that says a simple photograph can tell a story equivalent to over 1,000 words. The students will need to use the scientific method to determine a way to answer that question. They will also need to design a test to empirically show that one picture can generate a story/composition of over 1,000 words.
This is a FANTASTIC experiment to link science
