I have been teaching for going on eight years, but have loved writing for as long as I can remember.
My teaching style is very relaxed. I like to sneak a corny joke or pun into my lessons every now and then. Kids need to have fun sometimes, especially in writing, which tends to be super serious. In order to get students to better understand certain concepts, I've found that using comparisons works very well. Because of that, you'll often see references to The Hunger Games or Harry Potter, and other popular media in my curriculum.
I once received an "Oklahoma's Okay-est Teacher" mug as a joke. Does that count? ;-)
I attended Langston University with a focus on early childhood education. Undergrad at Southern Tech. Besides "official" schooling, I love expanding my creative mind by taking online Master Classes from the likes of Stephen King. If you haven't heard of Master Classes, please check them out, they're truly amazing!
My family and I are currently living in Arizona with our precious pup, Cinna, who is absolutely adored by all of us. Our favorite pastime is jump scaring each other. (Cinna gets in on the action, too!) I love animal memes and will gladly trade some of them via email! When I'm not writing curriculum, novels, and short stories, you can find my nose buried in a book. Not literally though, because I read ebooks.
