Over 50 years of experience! I have taught all levels, all ethnic backgrounds, all intellectual capabilities and physical capacities. I pioneered in individualized instruction, team teaching, group processing, networking, Glasser, Gestalt and General attempts at improving teaching techniques. I am available for individual questions or problem solving. Sometimes you just can't seem to find the right answer for a particular student, let me help you brain storm. Give me the particulars of your problem or desired outcome, and I will furninsh you with ideas and resources to help you reach a desired outcome. I have a M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of California in Riverside, under the direction of the eminent Dr. Harry Singer. I specialize in Reading Instruction with a minor in Special Education. I have continuing credits and experience in Administration, Testing, Resource Teaching, ESL and Continuing Education.
I am an eclectic and pragmatic teacher. I take from everyone and everywhere and adapt it to my personality and teaching style. I believe than anyone can learn, giving them respect as an individual and for the progess they have made. It's not how well I teach, but how much I can help my students learn. I also believe that anyone can teach; we learn something from everyone we are exposed to and become a better person from all our acquaintences , whether they be good or bad experiences. I don't know everything, but I do know how to find anything!
None worth mentioning since it was my students that 'shined' and learned. They deserve the credit for trying and progressing.
From humble beginings in parochial schools to the world of hard knocks. A mediocore student to a avid learner. I completed my undergraduate work and my B of E after interrupting it with three years in Military Service. I taught for a time and came to the realization that I was a lousy teacher. From the Institute for Teachers of the Disadvantaged (that's what they called the underprivileged inner city shcools in the 60's) led by Dick Larsen and Marty Haberman, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, I learned how biased and prejudiced I was. From "Teaching As A Subversive Activity" to a Master's Degree in Educational Pshycology, I finally became a Special Educator. In California I pursued a career as an Educator of Special Needs Students: any age, any level, any persausion. From physically disabled children to incarcerated adults, from mentally challenged to gifted individuals, from emotionally disturbed to hospitalized inmates, from babies to adults, from immigrants to college students. I enjoyed the opportunity to help individuals learn and prosper. When my patience wore out, I retired to my horses and reading. I continue to this day studying teaching methods, exploring new techniques and learning from my students.
