By Urban Literacy I am going into my seventeenth year of teaching ELA at the secondary level. I have worked with students in 6th-12th grade and in both suburban and urban environments. I work with ELL and SpED students, and have been trained in both data-driven instruction and Readers/Writers Workshop.
Creative, Collaborative, and Comprehensive My classroom is very student-driven, and I work to make the curriculum as relevant and timely as possible. My students take ownership of their learning and spend a lot of time working independently or in small groups. Direct instruction is as limited as possible.

I graduated with a B.S. in Secondary English Education from the University of Central Florida in 2004 and earned my M.S.Ed. in Reading/Writing/Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania in 2014.
I am married (to another teacher!) and have two young boys!
