TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Gary Robinson is an author and educational filmmaker of Cherokee and Choctaw Indian descent who has been creating Native American educational content for more than 30 years. His award-winning creations explore the struggles and accomplishments of Native American peoples while dispelling myths and stereotypes regarding their histories, cultures and contemporary affairs.

Gary has won multiple awards for educational video productions including Best Public Service for "Restoring the Sacred Circle" at the 2002 American Indian Film Festival, the Best Industrial film for "Pathways to Tomorrow" at the 2003 American Indian Film Festival, the Best Documentary for "Healing the Warrior's Heart" at the LA Skins Fest film festival, and the Best Animation for "We Are All Related" at the 2015 American Indian Film Festival.

Gary has written and published 14 books on Native American topics including two children's picture books, two non-fiction books on American Indians in the U.S. military, seven short teen-novels for struggling readers and an historical novel for 4th, 5th and 6th graders on California mission history from a Native American perspective. His film projects include the award-winning PBS production "Healing the Warrior's Heart," the award-winning animation "We Are All Related," and most recently "The Historical Hoax That Created a Saint."
