I studied Spanish at Marian University in Indianapolis where I earned my BA in Spanish Literature. I did graduate work at Indiana University in Bloomington where I received a Master of Arts degree in Spanish Literature. I am a former middle school and high school Spanish teacher spending much of my career at Ben Davis HS, Indianapolis, IN. I have also taught Spanish at Butler University, Franklin College and WL Teaching Methods at Marian University and Franklin College. I have directed Spanish teacher summer immersion programs for WorldStridesds and traveled with teacher groups to Spain, Mexico and Cuba. While teaching at the middle school and high school levels I traveled with 30 student groups to Mexico and Spain. I have been a long time writer of supplemental language materials for Teacher's Discovery, Carlex, Gessler, J. Weston Walch and NTC. I also have printed books available on Amazon. I have an Apple Podcast - Tom's World Language Café - a radio show. Lots of fun!
My teaching style is one that allows students to actively participate in class. I love teaching Spanish and especially enjoy creating fun and user-friendly activities for students. For me the best part is to teach language and culture so that students can have authentic experiences. I love student-centered classrooms. I also love risk-taking while teaching Spanish!
