I am a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist with extensive experience working with Preschool - 5th grade! I am super passionate about the intersection of language and literacy, so you will see that many of my materials have a strong foundation in phonics instruction.
I love play-based therapy! I strongly believe in building rapport, ensuring my students are regulated, and increasing engagement through fun, motivating activities.
MS CCC-SLP Orton Gillingham Trained Associate
I initially went to school for Early Childhood Education because I've always known I wanted to help shape young minds. While interning in a kindergarten classroom with 31 students, I found my true passion in special education. I love the individualized instruction and helping all students achieve success regardless of learning differences. Specifically, I was drawn to the area of language and helping others to communicate effectively across settings. I went on to get my Bachelor's Degree in Communicative Disorders and my Master's in Speech-Language Pathology. I also spent time while in grad school to become trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach because I found my niche in literacy.
Welcome to the nest! The inspiration for the name "The Word Nest," apart from being a play on words, was my desire to create a place with comfortable and cozy vibe where I could share educational resources. Comfort is something I value in every aspect of my life. At work, I strive to foster an environment where my students feel comfortable and safe. The speech room is a retreat for many of the kiddos I work with. Similarly, I wanted to establish an online presence that can be a familiar spot that other educators can resort to for materials and inspiration. Words are my outlet, my safety net and my magic - it's about time I share them.
