TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching 6-12th Grades since 1995. I spent over a decade helping improve instruction and supporting teacher development as a resource teacher for a very large school district. Now, I'm back in the classroom putting what I have learned into practice. I love making engaging lessons, activities, and resources for my students, and yours!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I focus on using a mixture of primary and secondary sources that give real-world connections to the teaching of social studies. I teach in a district that is 1:1 which provides opportunities to give students a choice of materials. I love student-centered instruction and often use my document sets for jig-saws, Socratic seminars, gallery walks, and other discussion formats. The goal is to have students draw their own evidence-based conclusions, evaluate the reliability of sources, and build their writing and argumentation skills.
