After thirty years, I have recently retired in order to focus on my family. How time flies when you are having fun! I have taught primary aged children in public school. During this time, I have enjoyed teaching first, second, and third grades; as well as, special education and dyslexia. My experiences range from rural communities to small towns and even inner city schools. Currently, I am volunteering and substitute teaching at the K-5 level.
I like to teach balanced literacy through hands-on manipulatives and active learning. I incorporate discussion, movement, and drama into my lessons and activities whenever possible.
To positively touch the lives of hundreds of children has been my greatest honor ~ and JOY!
I received my B.S. and M.Ed. degrees from TAMU, College Station. I have been a reading specialist for over twenty-five years and have extensive training in Gifted and Talented Education and Dyslexia interventions.
I am a very reflective teacher. I'm constantly striving to improve the educational experience of my students. Therefore, I actually love reinventing/tweeking the wheel every year and making activities new and exciting.
