I am retired from teaching at the age of 44. I have over 20 years of teaching experience mostly in middle school science. I have also been a counselor at both the middle and high school setting. I have taught in both rural and city as well as a very diverse population of ethnicities. I have collected and saved an enormous amount of lessons and materials over the years and hope it will continue to help others educate our youth.
Style? Evoloving. If it works, I use it. Learning to adapt to your audience is key. Technology changes everyday. If you cannot change and adapt with it, you better think of a new career.
Ive been honored with various teacher awards at the building and district levels as well as nominated for District Teacher of The Year. Beyond the awards, one of my greatest accomplishment/achievement was being chosen to ride on Zero-G flight or also known as The Vomit Comet. I got to share a ton of fun stuff with my classes with the help of technology.
I originally obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physial Education and became certified in General Science. Iwent on to get a Masters Degree in Secondary Counseling and became certified SIOP instructor.
While I am adjusting to retirement, my wife still teaches Communication Arts at the middle school level. Both of our sons are in high school and very involved in baseball as still coach their summer teams.
