TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 18 years of experience in a variety of educational settings. My classroom experience includes public, private and charter schools where I taught kindergarten, first, second, and sixth grades. I have also tutored prekindergarten - high school students in language arts, history, science, and math (including Algebra and Geometry.)

MY TEACHING STYLE

I tend to favor project based units that integrate multiple subject areas. The most important element in a lesson is student engagement. I find that an inquiry or product oriented approach helps spark student interest. Hands on activities help to keep their attention. Integrating several subject areas helps to make connections clear.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I earned my BA magna cum laude.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

After graduating from Azusa Pacific University with a degree in Music Education, I earned my multiple subject teaching credential.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My husband and I have two boys. In addition to classroom teaching and tutoring, I have homeschooled grades K-6th. I am currently homeschooling only one of my sons (6th grade) and teaching part time at a homeschool charter school.
