I have been teaching in an urban district for 12 years. I have taught 7th grade American Studies, 8th grade Global Studies, 10th grade AP and regular Human Geography and 11th grade U.S. History. I also have experience co-teaching ELL and Special Ed classes.
I love variety. One minute my students will be reading a text and focusing on vocabulary and comprehension, and the next they will be rotating stations doing mapping activities or competing against another group while learning a new topic. I really love creating assignments and activities that combine skills from core classes like Math, Science, and English. For example, I teach students to use the problem-solving strategy from their math classes when looking at population dilemmas in Europe, as well as have them practice identifying context clues, taught in English, when learning about the conflict in the Amazon Rainforest.

I earned both my undergraduate and Master's degree through Hamline University. My majors were psychology and social students and a focus on education for my Masters. I have a teaching and technology certificate and am on my way to earn another certificate in ELL.
