I've been teaching in some way since I was 16 years old. I started out as a math tutor to elementary school students, then I made my way to teaching freshmen comp in college. My current job is teaching in a wonderful high school English class! In addition to those experiences, I'm also a homeschool mom and published author ("Who Do You Want to Be?" on Amazon). I love teaching my students to see virtues in what they are reading and then be able to apply those virtues to their own lives. As a grammar aficionado, I teach how important grammar is to writing that is well done. All students who desire to write well can do it, so I look for ways to help start them with a formula and then grow from there. It is a joy to see my students' excitement when they succeed!
My favorite part of teaching is getting my students involved in conversation. I love short, collaborative group projects that end with the students presenting their ideas to the class as a whole. While that's not always practical, it's fun to include these collaborative efforts as much as possible.
