I am a Software Engineer with over 20 years of experience. For several years I have been a guest teacher at my local elementary and middle school, teaching computer programming fundamentals and language-specific lessons (e.g. JavaScript, Ruby, Java, Perl).
I utilize a variety of methods and I enjoy the challenge of discovering ways to reach more students with a variety of needs. I believe that all students can and should receive STEM opportunities. I am passionate about sharing my professional knowledge and experience as well as being a STEM role model to girls and young women. I have created presentations for hands-on learning with electronics which advance the understanding of underlying computing hardware. I also take advantage of free online resources paired with my own supplemental materials to create a programming learning continuum for a range of ability and achievement levels.
