TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Dr. Sandra Annette Rogers has been an educator for 30 years and has taught many subjects at many levels---from PreK to college! Her areas of expertise are teaching reading, ESOL, and elementary education. She also served as a literacy coach for an elementary school. She works as an instructional designer for a large university. She enjoys the challenge of designing instruction for teachers on TPT, too! She has been slowly revisiting the K-12 material that she created over the years and updating it to sell on TPT. It's a labor of love.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Dr. Rogers uses positive reinforcement to enhance learning. For instance, she uses the term "smart mistakes" to refer to errors based on preconceived rules such as regular verb formation applied incorrectly to irregular verbs or the application of false cognates to a second language. She strives to recognize the source of the student's mistake, and then guide them (scaffolding) to the correct response. In her opinion, students respond favorably to positive remarks, especially with error correction.
