I started my teaching career in 2006 as a 22-year old fresh out of college. I actually took over for my first grade teacher, who had just retired. I quickly realized that first grade wasn't for me so I changed to third grade the following year. After two years of teaching third grade, the budget cuts of 2008 happened. I was fortunate enough to keep my job, but was moved to 6th grade. This ended up being a blessing in disguise. Not only did I realize that I enjoyed teaching older students, but I also realized that math was my favorite subject to teach. Five years after teaching sixth grade, my principal talked me into moving to seventh grade math, which is what I am currently teaching.
I love organization and using a variety of teaching methods. I also change how I teach yearly and try to evolve each year to make a greater impact on my students.
