I taught preschool for Head Start from 2006 until 2012 when I gave birth to a premature (6 weeks early) amazingly strong little girl named Ellie. At that time we decided I would stay home with her and continue my education part time. In 2014 we welcomed our second daughter, Abbie, and at the end of the year were crazy enough to start working on our own educational website (www.teachmeteachme.com) and blog where I hope to share ways to "transform everyday minutes into teachable moments". As you can imagine it has been a slow process, but we hope to launch the website in August of 2015. In the meantime I will be loading my activities (printables) onto TpT. Any feedback will be GREATLY appreciated!
I wouldn't say that I have a specific teaching "style". I believe that learning should be fun and am willing to do just about anything to ensure that it is. Following the child's lead and incorporating their interests are key as well as making a conscience effort to foster their curiosity and build their self-confidence. I strive to help children realize that they are capable human beings that have so much to offer the world.
Shortly after becoming a preschool teacher for Head Start I completed my associate's degree in ECE. I continued teaching for 6 years before I was lucky enough to become a mommy. Since 2012 I've been staying at home with my girls and attending college part-time for my bachelor degree in ECE (minoring in business). I spent the first 2 years back in college learning about communicative disorders & deaf education as I thought a career change of becoming a Speech Language Pathologist was right for me...but it wasn't! :) My heart is in ECE so that's where I will stay.
