Christine started her career teaching middle school and high school English. After 4 years teaching the "big kids," she moved to elementary. For the past 27 years she has taught kindergarten and first grade and second grade. However, the past 15 years she has been teaching kindergarten. When asked what grade level she likes to teach the most, Christine says, "I like it all. I just love to teach!" But she adds that teaching kindergarten keeps her laughing.
Christine strives to move her students from passive learners to active learners. She uses lots of hands-on materials, encourages "pair share" and other teamwork activities. She also incorporates TPR, total physical response, where young students are encouraged to add hand motions and gestures while they learn. Christine also has a song for just about everything! She and her students are always singing!
