I taught Life Science to 7th graders for my first two years of teaching. I then moved to high school where I have taught Forensic Science, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Environmental Science, Microbiology, AP Environmental Science, and AP Biology. I have been to several workshops and conferences for various life sciences throughout my years teaching.
I like to give my students a concrete foundation of the topic at hand through lecture-style notes in a flipped setting where they take their own hand-written notes at home and then they are directed toward student-led and collaborative activities in the classroom to reinforce the information.
I received a Teaching Excellence Award in January 2010 at my former high school. I won Teacher of the Year at my former high school in 2014. I won Teacher of the Month at my current high school in 2016 & 2020 and Teacher of the Year in 2018.
I graduated from University of Georgia in 2007 with a degree in Science Education. I earned my Master of Science in Education degree from Walden University in 2010.
I am a sponsor of our high school's environmental club. We have monthly campus clean-up days, school recycling, trips to local parks and eco-friendly centers, and lots of other activities throughout the year. We love to raise awareness of human impact on the earth and ways to clean up our environment for future generations.
