Swaggy Science

I have been teaching middle school science for the last 5 years. I am teaching Earth/Space science, Life science, Physical science, Biology, and STEM. I am currently teaching regular and advanced classes.When I started teaching I struggled with student engagement. I was teaching material I know my students needed to know, but they weren’t that interested to learn. I had what is considered “New” material but my students still hit me with the “why do we need to know this?” and dazed looks. Adding content that they found interesting made my class #thefavoriteclass. I secretly squeal on the inside when the bell rings and they say “How is class over already?!? Mrs.Rogge can we stay with you?”. My state science scores soared and I am on a 2 year streak of 100% pass rate with my 8th grade Biology EOC (meant for 10th graders). All I did is allow science structured for working through some of the dry material. My graduated students still talk about some of our activities like the Edison and Tesla twitter battle.

I am just your normal animal loving, jiu jitsu fighting, dressage riding, softball coaching, wife, mother of 2, comedy and hallmark movie obsessed science teacher. I am blessed to lead the good life with my family while chasing down dreams. I started Swaggy Science to share my classroom success and help teachers feel like the heroes they are.
