I have six years teaching K-6 in an 8:1:1 self contained classroom. Experience broadens to general education and also Music specialty. I have a total of 11 years in education in various settings both general education and special education. Many workshops, including TCI de-escalation and behavior training, have expanded my beliefs in trauma based practices.
Students need to be taught regulation of emotions and how to utilize coping strategies. My approach utilizes the five areas of social emotional learning to drive lessons and activities: self-awareness, self-management; social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.
