I teach a self contained class for students with Autism in a public school. For the most part my students are capable of grade level work but their autism inteferes with their ability to access the curriculum, so I must modify the material to meet the standards.
I believe that all students have the ability to learn. That they should be exposed, and/or talk grade level materials with accommodations and modifications. I believe that students learn guest in structured environment in which they know what is coming, noting does this increase academic knowledge but it also decreases behaviors in the classroom.

When I am not teaching middle schoolers with autism you, I can be found poolside watching my children swim. I have a senior in high school who is about to go to college just when do you want and at seventh grader who is ready to make his work on the world as well.
