TEACHING EXPERIENCE

We have been teaching Oxford and American English to non-native speakers for many years. The programs we have used are based on reading, guided reading, and close reading. The READING method in strengthening and deepening language has proven to be the most successful for helping our students achieve greater literary and grammar success.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Students have multiple exposure to vocabulary and grammar through reading. Reading literature is a perfect way for students to absorb natural uses of English vocabulary, grammar, and literary elements. My study guides and assessment style are straight and to the point, focusing on "what's important to know from this novel?" and "did my student actually read each chapter?"

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have an honours Masters of Arts degree in Recreation Therapy and a University Teaching certificate. I have a TEFL certificate from U of Toronto. Achieved a 4.9/5 rating as a tutor on the Cambly.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Reading caused my brain to GROW, EXPAND, and UNDERSTAND more than I ever learned in school. If you can become a great reader, you can become a successful person.
