I have taught 12 years of kindergarten, 1 year of first grade and 2 year of second grade. I am now teaching second grade again and hope to stay here for a while!!
I teach in VA using the state SOLs. I use the workshop model for most of my content areas. During math, students are engaged with learning stations while I teach guided math. During language arts time, we dig deep into books using the Fountas and Pinnel Classroom resources and Guided Reading. It's one of my favorite parts of the day. During writer's workshop, I use Lucy Caukin's model and help students become authors and illustrators.
Taught 15 years in my county Scholars Honored Educator
I went to Longwood University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with a teaching license in K-6.
I love spending time with my husband, our daughter who is 11, our son who is 5 and our 2 boxers. We own a nonprofit in Richmond, VA called Love of Learning. We provide literacy opportunities for underserved kids in Central Virginia and give them books to build their at home libraries. www.loveoflearningrva.org
