TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching Elementary Music for the past 25 years. (Tampa, Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada) I have also taught various professional development courses for elementary music specialists as well as technology sessions to general educators.

MY TEACHING STYLE

In my classroom, I see myself more as a facilitator. Students explore, discover and problem solve to create music through singing, playing and collaborating.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am a 2-time National Board Certified Teacher, Level 1 Google Certified, Battle Born Educator Feb. 2021 (CUE-NV) and am an Apple Teacher. I have been a 3 time Heart Of Education Finalist in the Clark County School District. I am also past president of the Nevada Desert Valley Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Music Education from Asbury University and a Master's in Music from UNLV with an Orff Concentration.

After 25 years of teaching elementary, I have transitioned to a full time position at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as Assistant Professor of music education pedagogy and practice.
