I peer led general chemistry, semester 2, for two years at UTEP. I then taught for 12 years at a charter school district. I taught all general sciences from 6th grade to 12th grade. From the AP sciences, I have taught AP biology and AP physics. I absolutely love teaching and I love helping teachers!
I am hands on, but I have found structured classes with tons of at bats help as well. When I see students at much different levels, I have differentiated lessons to meet their needs (I saw the biggest need for differentiation when I taught AP physics).
Teacher of the Year, Core Value Awards, Most Improved, Master Teacher (high level, top 5% of district)
I have a bachelors in biological science with a concentration in pre-medical sciences (If you want to know my story, check out my additional bio info) I went to: The University of Texas at El Paso (amazing university, so many awesome opportunities), University of Hawaii at Manoa (only one semester, but life changing!), New Mexico Tech (during summer for research)
**Personal Biography:** Initially uncertain about my career path during college, I followed my brother's footsteps into a premed program. However, life presented me with a significant crossroad when I was accepted into UC Berkeley's medical school bridge program. Despite my high MCAT scores, I felt my GPA needed improvement. Simultaneously, I was deeply engaged in working for a magazine, traveling across the U.S., and meeting fascinating people. This experience led to an unexpected offer to teach. Faced with three compelling options, I distinctly recall the defining moment at a charity event at the Beverly Hill Hilton hotel. Despite the allure of the magazine industry and its connections to high-profile personalities, I felt a lack of personal fulfillment in making a positive impact. Acknowledging my heart wasn't as invested in medicine as my brother's, who has since become a successful doctor, I made the bold decision to pursue teaching. I joined a school district committed to supporting low-income students in their college endeavors. The initial year was challenging, marked by daily struggles and self-doubt. However, my perseverance paid off, with 96% of my students passing their state biology exams—a remarkable achievement for a newcomer. Determined to improve, I spent the following summer engaged in professional development, reading extensively, and welcoming feedback. My efforts transformed me into an effective educator, with subsequent years seeing up to 100% pass rates in the Biology EOC among my students. My dedication was recognized through multiple "Teacher of the Year" awards and high rankings in various science subjects across the district. I believe in sharing knowledge and resources generously, often providing materials and mentorship to fellow educators. However, a recent assault by a student has profoundly impacted me, causing me to reconsider my future in the classroom. Despite this setback, my passion for teaching and helping others remains strong. Teaching is a noble profession, and I am hopeful that my experiences and resources will inspire and aid others on their journey in education.
