I am proud to have taught in the public schools for 20 years. I now teach education courses at the university level. I am also the author of over 50 books for children and educators.
I believe in a balanced approach. I find project-based inquiry learning most effective for motivating learners and supporting real-world applications. I am also a proponent of play-based learning and feel strongly we need to bring creative and authentic child-centered learning back into classrooms. Yes-this can be accomplished while still meeting the Common Core State Standards!
