TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Public School Founding Teacher *** 6th/7th Grade Humanities *** Literacy Coordinator

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in student-centered learning because in the disruption of the traditional power structures of schooling where a teacher is at the front of the classroom doling out knowledge and students are there to be receptors, is the possibility for students who have traditionally been disenchanted with school and the learning that takes place within it, to succeed. For student-centered learning to function, students need to feel like they are active members of a learning community. For ALL students to feel like they are active members of a learning community, I need to provide them with a diversity of resources to match their individual strengths.
