MY TEACHING STYLE

Interactive, hands-on, group work, exploratory, self-motivated. I encourage my students to take ownership of their education by allowing them to learn from their peers and by using resources available to them. I promote curiosity and conversation in order to boost student engagement. Responsibility, engagement, and collaboration are the roots of my approach.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I taught one year of World History, Mississippi Studies, and World Geography at Terry High School in Terry, MS. I have 6 years experience as the Social Studies teacher for the Youth Detention Center in Birmingham, AL which houses students of varying ages who have been arrested for committing crimes where I taught all content areas in the Social Studies curriculum in order to service each student. I taught 8th grade Ancient World History and 10th grade US History in Jefferson County, AL. Currently, I am serving as Instructional Coach in a 7-12 public school.
