TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have twenty years of classroom experience in Central Ohio having taught all subjects in grades 3-5 and English/Language Arts in grades 6-7. I currently teach fifth grade Science & Social Studies.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that learning should be active, inquiry-based, and cooperative. I believe in facilitating stream-lined learning experiences that incorporate multiple common core standards. I believe in the integration of reading and writing in every activity. My resources reflect these beliefs, are designed with the gradual-release-of-responsibility in mind, and have all been classroom tested and tweaked to perfection.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

In 2014, my third grade students & I earned "Elementary School of the Year" distinction placing first in the Ohio Energy Project/ National Energy Education Development "Kids Teaching Kids About Energy" Portfolio competition. We were recognized for our achievements in Washington, D.C.

I have a Bachelor Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University (Elementary Education and English Education) and a Master Degree from Ashland University (Literacy).
