I have taught first, third, and fifth grades. I have also taught seventh and eighth grade language arts. I also taught collection development at the college level.
Generally, I am a constructivist. I believe that students build their own understanding and knowledge of the world, by experiencing things and reflecting on those experiences.
My school district's libraries won the 2006 School Library Media Program of the Year while I was employed as a media specialist.
I graduated from high school in Flint, Michigan. I graduated from the University of Michigan. I have a master's degree in Special Education from Eastern Michigan University. I have School Media Specialist endorsement from the University of Houston at Clear Lake City, Texas.
I retired in 2010 and have volunteered at the local public library and elementary school.
