TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Private instruction, classroom instruction, chorus , band, and orchestra since 2004. 35 shows total in theater experience. Currently instructing pre-k students as well as an upper elementary level theater program after school and musically directing for Rockland Theatre Company and Rockland Community College.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Suzuki, Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcrose methods. Strong belief that music must be experienced hands-on to be appreciated. Music theory should be interactive, not memorized. Music history, though first read about, should be relived. Students should create and perform, use resources and instruments to explore, analyze and respond to music, and understand how culture has influenced the music we love.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Honorary plaque presented by the Rockland Theater Company.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

10 years of private school, Regents Diploma, BA Music Education, and MA Curriculum & Instruction

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Musical Director for The Hudsoneers and have worked and/or performed at Elmwood Playhouse and other schools in preparation for their musicals.
