I have 5+ YEARS OF TEACHING experience: (a) one year of student teaching in a general education 5th grade classroom, (b) one year of student teaching in a Learning For Independence classroom for students with moderate to profound disabilities in grades 9-12, (c) two years in a self-contained classroom for students with moderate to profound disabilities in grades 9-12, (d) two years in a transition classroom for students after high school graduation, and (e) one semester as a long-term sub as a P.E. teacher in a private school (preK-8).
When I was in the classroom, I used a token economy as both a reward system and a learning tool for money (and related life skills). Functional math skills and functional reading skills were important to me. I enjoy using Project-Based Learning (PBL) units in academic classes.
