TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a public school teacher for 14 years. I have spent the past 9 years teaching middle school art. I currently teach both 6th grade and 8th grade. It is important to note that my school is block scheduled. We have 4 blocks per day, and each block is 90 minutes long.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use a combination of slides, study guides (for art vocabulary), in person demonstration (my favorite), and whole class guidance (i.e. students are painting along with me while they watch my hands on a Promethean Board).

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I'm my county, I'm considered a "High Qualified" teacher due to the number of art studio and art history credits that I have from my undergraduate experience, coupled with my Art Praxis score.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended the University of Notre Dame for my undergraduate studies. I received a BFA with a concentration in painting. Painting is my favorite medium to teach in the classroom, but I also truly enjoy teaching sculpture. I received my Masters of Education from Shenandoah University.
