I have worked with kids (tutoring, Sunday School, teaching) for 17+ years now. I am certified in 4-8 English Language Arts and Social Studies, English 9-12, History 9-12, and ESL certification. I am currently teaching at Lewisville High School Harmon in Lewisville ISD teaching 9th grade English I! In the past, I've also taught Reading, Texas History, U.S. History, Contemporary World Cultures, and English Language Arts.
I consider myself to be the "fun" teacher. I strive to make sure my lessons are engaging and I'm always trying to improve my style and better serve my students. I often use simulations, games, kinesthetic activities, and Project Based Learning to allow my students to explore their learning on a deeper level.
AP Scholar Award (2011)
I grew up in the District I am currently teaching in (Lewisville ISD). After graduating from high school at one of the largest campuses in the state, I decided to go to a much smaller college campus in East Texas, The University of Texas at Tyler. After three years in the program, it was unfortunately shut down due to lack of interest in teaching middle school aged students (which I think is a true shame because middle school is the BEST). I graduated with my degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and earned certification through the alternative program, Texas Teachers. After completing my probationary year as a teacher in Garland ISD, I was able to move back to my home district in Lewisville ISD.
