TEACHING EXPERIENCE

While I was obtaining my degree I worked with children at La Petite Learning Academy for three years and worked as a summer school teaching assistant for Parkway. I was a substitute teacher in the Springfield Public Schools district for a year and then went on to student teach at Parkway West High. Currently, I teach 8th Social Studies in Aurora, Colorado.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I emphasize building connections in my classroom, it's hard to learn from someone that you don't like. The first few weeks with students I devote to building a community through various getting to know you activities such as personality tests, escape rooms, weird Kahoots. Then we set up our Social Studies Binders and dive into our content! I am a BIG believer in guided notes and group projects. Overall I love to encourage my students to not only learn history but to be critical thinkers while doing so!
